Tendon to Business...


Well... after the planning and after quitting our jobs and after renting our house and after actually making it to Sydney, Australia, we found out (the hard way) that the torn calf muscle was actually a ruptured Achilles tendon. The tendon was only partially ruptured in October and was diagnosed incorrectly.

In summary, I finished it off on a beach in Sydney. It was a nice beach anyway. The doc said that the tendon was going to need surgery regardless. So, we did our best to enjoy the final couple days in Sydney. Surprisingly, I was able to walk on it... slowly anyway. We went to the zoo and other places while we finalized plans to get back to the US for surgery.

We are a bit disappointed as we were about 380 days short of our goal. We plan to get back on the trip as soon as we can... unfortunately, that will be in 4 - 6 months.
